The Festivities

The big day will commence with our wedding ceremony on The Lone Pine Lawn of Vaucluse House at approximately 3.30pm. The ceremony will take 20 minutes. Water, shades & seats will be available.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, drinks & canapes will be served on the front lawn of Vaucluse House as the sun sets on Sydney harbour.

The reception will include 3 courses served with tea, coffee, cake & chocolates. Drinks will also be served. Any guests with special dietary concerns or preferences will be catered for by the capable chef & kitchen staff of the Tearooms. Please email Deanne at dbarton@pymblelc.nsw.edu.au to discuss vegetarian, gluten-free, wheat-free or other options.

The reception should finish some time between 10.30pm - 11pm with a coach transporting all guests to Bondi Beach.

As many friends & family have made special trips from overseas to celebrate our wedding, we have organised the following activities in the days before & after the wedding.

Bronte

Many Sydney siders from the Eastern Suburbs claim Bronte to be their favourite beach (including the Bride and Groom who are lucky enough to live at Bronte). Bronte is much smaller than Bondi, and is popular on sunny weekends. With parkland behind the beach featuring barbecue areas, an ocean water pool, and fabulous cafes, Bronte is known as a beautiful family beach. Bronte also has great surfing and body surfing and is patrolled by lifeguards over the summer months.

Things to do
· Brunch at one of the sidewalk cafes. There are half a dozen cafes to choose from. The Bride & Groom recommend Swell for a coffee.
· Sizzle snags on the public barbecues in the park and discover Aussie culture for just 20 cents.
· Do the famous coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte (a must do for first time visitors to Sydney).
· Boogie board, surf or swim in the waves (a favourite of the groom)
· Relax in the sun
. Ride the "Bronte Express" - Sydney's shortest train line
· There are established rock pools at most of the beaches in Sydney and Bronte is no different.
. The ocean pool is fantastic if you like the ocean but want to swim laps.

Getting There
· Public parking can be a nightmare on the weekend. Take public transport.
· Located near Tamarama, Clovelly and Coogee beaches Bronte has good public transport. Take Sydney Central Rail Station Bus 378 from Liverpool Street in the Sydney CBD Bronte is 2.5km south of Bondi Beach or 10.5km from the Sydney CBD

Bondi

The name 'Bondi' is an aboriginal onomatopoeic word taken from the sound waves make as they boom into the shore, and then sigh away. Bon-di.

The beach is perhaps Sydney's most famous suburb. The surf, sun and sand are Aussie icons, and Bondi combines this with restaurants and cafes, trendy shops and boutiques and spectacular city views.

Bondi beach is roughly a kilometre long and is the classic example of Sydney's beach culture with surfers, lifesavers and sun worshippers.

Things to do
· Swim or surf in the ocean.
· Lie back on the clean sand and watch the human traffic.
· Walk, jog or skate down the promenade.
· Dine al fresco at one of the many restaurants and cafes, or even watch the sunset lying on the grass with fish & chips
· Take a swim in the famous Bondi Iceburgs surf pool at the south end of the beach.
· Grab some clothes and gifts in the trendy shops.
· Do the scenic 2.5km Bondi to Bronte beach walk.
· Shop at the Sunday markets. The Bondi Beach Markets are held every Sunday from 10am till 5pm at the local public school at North Bondi on Campbell parade.
· There is a night market at Roscoe Mall on Campbell Parade from Thur-Sun from 5pm

Getting There
· Bondi is just an 8km drive from the centre of Sydney
· All day buses from the city start from Circular Quay, the ride to Bondi Beach takes 45 minutes. Take bus 380, 382 or 333 with the destination showing North Bondi, Dover Heights, Watsons Bay or Bondi Beach. The 389 bus also starts from Circular Quay and reaches North Bondi via the back streets of Paddington
· The train goes only as far as Bondi Junction. Central, Town Hall, Martin Place, Kings Cross, Edgecliff and Bondi Junction all have services. At the junction change to a 380, 381, 382 or 333 bus for a 15 minute ride to the beach

Vaucluse House Tearooms

Built in 1880, the Vaucluse House Tearooms are steeped in history and the magnificent gardens of Vaucluse House are definitely worth a wander. Vaucluse House is surrounded by 10 hectares of picturesque gardens and grounds stretching nearly down to foreshore of Sydney Harbour. The sandstone mansion was built in 1830's and was the home of Charles Wentworth and his family. The estate is a peaceful oasis away from the hectic city bustle. Vaucluse House Tearooms is a step back in time.

Vaucluse House

Located on Sydney Harbour, in one of Sydney's most exclusive areas, Vaucluse House is a stately mansion nestled in a l9th century leafy estate with a kitchen wing, stables and outbuildings and is surrounded by 27 acres of gardens and grounds. It was the home of William Charles Wentworth, father of the Australian Constitution, his wife Sarah and their family from 1827-1853.
